ABOUT "OUR MAN IN DC"

 

Peter Friedmann is the Pacific Coast Council's representative in Washington, D.C., known to PCC brokers and forwarders by his email address: OurManInDC.  The CRCBFA is one of 5 associations that make up the PCC. Peter's Capitol Hill experience in the area of international trade and transportation has produced tangible benefits for customs brokers and freight forwarders nationwide and on the Pacific Coast in particular. 

           

A native of Seattle, with undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Washington, he served on the US Senate Committee on Commerce, Science & Transportation, drafting the Ocean Shipping Act, and many other maritime laws about which he has written and spoken exclusively.  Then, on the Senate Finance Committee, he crafted the Harbor Maintenance Fee which has funded this country’s maritime infrastructure ever since.

           

He and his firm provide legal and lobbying services to trade associations, multinational corporations, state and local governments, port authorities, etc. before Congress and Federal agencies. As the Counsel to the Pacific Coast Council of Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Association, he works on behalf of the members of the 5 West Coast broker-forwarder associations to further brokers' and forwarders' interests before Congress, CBP, Federal Maritime Commission, FDA, and other agencies, including organizing the Annual PCC Mission to Washington.

           

Peter is a widely quoted authority on trade and transportation developments, and has been featured on Bloomberg News, National Public Radio, C-SPAN and frequently cited in the trade press.  He has spoken throughout the world on government policy and international trade.
